Local Transcribe helps you transcribe spoken conversations locally on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Mac version also supports Ask with source references.

When contacting support, include the device type, iOS/iPadOS/macOS version, app version, the feature affected and a short description of the issue. Do not send confidential meeting recordings or transcripts unless you choose to and have permission to share them.

Quick help

How do I start? Open the app, allow microphone access, select a speech model and choose Start transcription.

Do I need internet access? Whisper small is included with the app, so core speech transcription is available offline from first launch once your trial or subscription is active. Optional larger multilingual models need an Apple-hosted download. Optional model downloads need iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27. Subscription activation may require an internet connection.

Where are my transcripts? Open the saved transcripts view in the app to review, search, copy or share text.

Can I ask questions about a meeting? The Ask feature is available on the Mac, and may require downloading additional model packs. Ask's model downloads need macOS 27.

Why does transcription stop when I lock the iPhone? The current iPhone app needs to stay open for live transcription; follow any in-app recording notices.

Can I record other people? Obtain permission from all relevant parties and comply with the rules that apply to the meeting.

What happens after my subscription expires? You cannot start new transcription or AI processing, but your existing transcripts remain available to open, read, export and delete.

What are the Mac requirements? Apple silicon (M-series) and macOS 14.2 or later. Ask is Mac-only. Ask's model downloads need macOS 27.

Subscriptions and terms

One subscription covers supported iPhone, iPad and Mac versions under your Apple Account. Apple manages purchase and billing. Read the Terms of Use (Apple Standard EULA).
